The
small flag graphic that appeared on the 2001
Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. magazine covers closely
resembles the stamp-sized flags used by some magazines
in 1942. The small label was preferred by popular-fiction
titles like Master Comics, Movie Story,
and Ace Sports, which depended on exciting covers
to attract buyers.
