Peat was an extraordinarily productive artist whose work
was reproduced as magazine and book illustrations, paper dolls,
puzzles, and other toys. She was one of only a few women whose
artwork was featured on magazine covers in the 1940s, even though
women illustrators like Jessie Willcox Smith and Neysa McMein
had produced hundreds of covers for Good Housekeeping
and McCalls in previous decades. |
