    A, Folk-songs and Spirituals, sheet music, 1916-1952:

    These sheets are art-song arrangements of spirituals and a few non-religious folk-songs. Some of the arrangements are choral, but most are for solo voice and piano. Some new compositions are meant to be in the spiritual style. (34 items)

    B, Rodeheaver Co. Spirituals, 1922-1927:

    All of the pieces were published by the Rodeheaver Company. They are arrangements of spirituals or folk-songs or newly composed items meant to be imitative of the folk style. (7 items)

    C, Jubilee Singers, song folios, ca. 1885-1901:

    The items in this folder are song collections from Afro-American choral groups of the late 19th century, usually referred to as "Jubilee Singers." Most of the songs are spirituals or "plantation melodies" (a broadly inclusive term). Two of the folios include photographs of the singers. (4 items)

    D, Forty Negro Spirituals, 1927:

    The folio is a compilation of spirituals arranged for solo voice and piano by Clarence Cameron White. (1 item)

    E, Song Folios, small, ca. 1932-1962:

    The folios are collections of folk-songs and spirituals. One is a collection of songs from the repertory of Huddie Ledbetter ("Leadbelly"). (6 items)

    F, Song Folios, large, 1924-1940:

    These items are collections of Negro Spirituals. One folio is by J. Rosamond Johnson and another is from the show Green Pastures. (5 items)
