Thessalonica was initially operational from 498 until 630, and was re-opened by Alexius I (1081 - 1118), remaining in operation thereafter until the end of the 14th century. Mint marks inluded TES, THESSOB, TESOB, and THSOB. Thessalonica was unusual in that it produced a series of denominations unique to itself including this 16 nummi piece, an 8 nummi, a 4 nummi, and a 2 nummi.
