Along with the unique experience of working in the Museum, interns have the chance to get to know Washington. Enrichment programs, scheduled by the intern office assistants, offer interns the opportunity to talk with museum professionals and visit Washington landmarks. Previous events have included tours of the Capitol, the Supreme Court, and the Pentagon, along with gallery and exhibition talks by Smithsonian staff. Enrichment programs facilitate networking among interns and provide the opportunity for a deeper appreciation of the many facets of museum operations.
