S. J. Ferris Collection
Gift of J. L. G. Ferris, 1927

Internationally renowned in his brief lifetime, Spanish painter Mariano Fortuny is little known today. Ferris greatly admired his work and spent some time in Spain sketching the subjects represented in the master's repertory. He etched several portraits of Fortuny, as well as a number of his paintings.
